Superpolynomial quantum-classical separation for density modeling

چکیده
Density modeling is a machine learning task with the goal of an underlying probability distribution from samples. Here authors show that, when solving certain density problems, algorithms that use fault-tolerant quantum computers have advantage over classical ones.

Communication Tasks with Infinite Quantum-Classical Separation.
Quantum resources can be more powerful than classical resources-a quantum computer can solve certain problems exponentially faster than a classical computer, and computing a function of two parties' inputs can be done with exponentially less communication with quantum messages than with classical ones. Here we consider a task between two players, Alice and Bob where quantum resources are infini...
متن کاملQuantum density fluctuations in classical liquids.
We discuss the density fluctuations of a fluid due to zero point motion, assuming a linear dispersion relation. We argue that density fluctuations in a fluid can be a useful analog model for better understanding fluctuations in relativistic quantum field theory. We calculate the differential cross section for light scattering by the zero point density fluctuations, and find a result proportiona...
متن کاملModeling quantum effects in photosynthetic charge separation
Nature used light as a source of energy. Organisms like plants and bacteria rely on photosynthesis to power their activity. Light is absorbed by pigment molecules, which are part of large protein complexes. The initially absorbed photon creates an energy packet, which moves through the complex towards a reaction center, where charge separation takes place [1]. Over the past ten years, the role ...
متن کاملAsymptotics Problems for Laser-Matter Modeling; Quantum and Classical Models
This paper is devoted to the asymptotic analysis of both quantum and classical models which describe the evolution of electrons subject to the potential of an atomic crystal perturbed by the highly oscillating potential of external electro-magnetic waves. We derive either Einstein rate equations or diffusion equations with respect to the energy variable, depending on whether the initial model i...
متن کاملSuperpolynomial Speedups Based on Almost Any Quantum Circuit
The first separation between quantum polynomial time and classical bounded-error polynomial time was due to Bernstein and Vazirani in 1993. They first showed aO(1) vs.Ω(n) quantum-classical oracle separation based on the quantum Hadamard transform, and then showed how to amplify this into a n time quantum algorithm and a n n) classical query lower bound. We generalize both aspects of this speed...
